Meditation
on Prospect (ostinato improvisation) As part of a
"hymnfest"
program July 25, 1998, this was a kind of instrumental "reflection" on
the hymn just sung ("How Wonderful the Three-In-One", text Brian Wren,
tune from Southern Harmony). A number of sequencer parts (over a
repeating 8-bar pattern) were available to switch on or off "on the
fly"
during playing, with organ added "live". In the actual space,
synthesized
sounds played off against each other in echo fashion between speakers
at
the front and rear of the reverberant church. (Yes, it's all
synthesizer
and organ)
Hausorgel
Demo (2 meg)...since moving to Milwaukee, my own synths have been
home
for the most part, and I've evolved a pretty convincing set of organ
ensembles,
here recorded with a demo improv (11/29/2000). This is my
2-manual-and-pedal
setup - see this link for setup
description
Bach's
Air from Suite in D (110k) for "strings" and organ... all string
expression
is handled from the keyboard with velocity/aftertouch... synthesized
pizzicato
strings in the pedal are added to the organ's 16' principal...
Soon
and Very Soon (97k), as I might lead it from the organ -- a hybrid
Hammond/electric piano synth sound, organ foundations/reeds, and a
synth
bass played from the pedal via a (non-velocity sensitive) MIDI
interface.
(Hymn ends, and John runs off into a short "coda")
